There are multiple ways to enhance the security of your labels and make them tamper-proof. Some of the available options include using Void materials, ultra-destructible materials, Holographic images and materials, Security cuts/slits, and variable print.
Types of Security Labels and Their Uses
There are 2 main types of security labels, Prevention and Deterrent. These are typically used in conjunction with one another but are unique enough to be separated into different labels.
Prevention
Void Materials
Void materials are highly effective in preventing tampering attempts. Once applied to the product, they work by leaving a residue of the adhesive behind when the label is removed, revealing the word “Void.” This serves as a clear indication that the product has been tampered with. Void materials come in white or silver and can be printed using any of our processes. Additionally, patterns such as a “chain link” design are available, which are highly popular among customers.
Ultra-Destructible
Ultra-Destructible is a type of label that is made from tough to remove Ultra Destruct vinyl. This type of security label works immediately after being applied to the product. The materials in the label bond directly to the surface of the item which, in the case of an attempt to be removed, breaks into tiny pieces – causing damage to the part it was removed from and showing signs of tampering. These types of security labels are designed to prevent removal and show clear signs of tampering once removed. These labels make it much easier for businesses to se when their products have been tampered with.
Deterrent
Holographic Security Labels
Holographic security labels are a type of labelling solution that utilises holographic images to enhance the security of products and prevent counterfeiting. The holographic images used in these labels are highly complex and difficult to replicate, making them an effective deterrent against counterfeiting. Holographic security labels are commonly used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and cosmetics, where product authenticity is critical.
Variable Print
Variable Print is a technology that allows for the customisation of labels by incorporating unique, variable data on each label, such as serial numbers, barcodes etc. When used in security labels, variable print can greatly enhance the security and authenticity of a product.
By incorporating variable data into the label design, each label becomes unique and more difficult to duplicate or counterfeit. This makes it easier to track and authenticate products throughout the supply chain and provides an additional layer of security against tampering and counterfeiting.
These labels are created to discourage individuals from meddling with a product or producing fake copies. The inclusion of variable print features such as serial numbers and barcodes makes it extremely challenging to replicate these labels.
